More photography-Shutter speeds & design principles

Hello everyone!

I was looking through some of my pictures I've taken, and lets just say I miss photography. (The class). I didn't mind the tasks that take hours to shoot, plan, and edit. They were generally so much fun. But the written work. I didn't mind that either, but I'm not very good at it haha, and for how time consuming it is I really should have been getting better marks.

And apparently it's way worse this year so I'm glad I got out.

But I love taking photos. And now I don't take the class, I don't have an excuse to do cool shoots anymore. And I don't have the amazing quality SLR camera. I miss it...but now I have an amazing camera.

Here are some photos I've taken for the class.

First task

Some shots of a beach at sunset. I know that this has been done a million times before but it still makes for a cool desktop background :p

Two Rocks beach

Thank you birds for flying there just when I needed you to.

This is such a lovely beach, just wish it wasn't so far from me.

Second Task
-Shutter speeds

For the final poster, I ended up cropping my friend out of the picture, and just using the street as the background, made it black and white too. Haha, but her hair looks cool.

I shot this in my front yard, and ending up just taking the "6" and putting it on the poster with the street as the background. You have no idea, if you've never taken pictures with sprinklers before how hard it is. I know the ones on the internet look perfect, but for someone inexperienced like me, it was such a challenge. I played around with just how slow the shutter speed was. Too short and I couldn't finish the writing in time, too fast and I was writing it so quickly it looked like a mess. And to not be in the frame too. I had to lie on the ground while trying to write at the camera level....

I had to use a timer as well, and if I set it for too long, I'd finish writing whatever I wanted too early...

Oh yeah, I made two gig posters for Drake btw. Hence the "6", streets, drinks...

This is the one everyone said they preferred. The other lacked colour, said my respondents and in hindsight I agree.

Task 3
-Gestalt theory and Design principles

Proximity and Scale

Not my dog, although I wish he was. Grand parents dog, and I made him look a similar height to the tree. This was hard, as he's pretty small. Fits on lap type. I laid down on the pavement in the middle of a public park, and took a close up to make this happen. Haha, the things I do to take photos.

"Hey, you almost got run over!"
me: Yeah but I got a good street pic though

Pattern
I had to have 12 final images of different principles. Pattern is one where it has to be symmetrical. Cut roses, and strategically arranged them.

Harmony (no element in the photo overwhelms or stands out from the others)

Similarity

Okay, that's it for now. I miss that camera :(

Thanks for reading!

xx
